What was meant to be a relaxing trip to the cafe escalated quickly into a session of verbal war.

"Oh, let me guess? You don't remember a lot of things since disappearing from our world, too, don't you?"

"And maybe I'd say its good riddance that I don't remember you. I don't have time for people like you." Wayne replied and looked away to take another drink of his coffee.

"Oh, you seemed to thought you had plenty of time to waste on me before then." A temper was rising in her as she remembered all of her past interactions with him. "Always getting in the way, throwing in your snarky comments when we didn't need them, interrupting things you shouldn't..."

"Pft." He lightly tipped his chair back in a pretentious manner, which was something that had always irked Venus about him. "I won't even put it past myself to have done that. I've known that Razor and I were roommates, not that we remembered much else other than bits and pieces. And I do know one thing about you." He pointed at her as he leaned back forward to rest his arms on the table. "I was in the lobby last night. Must be nice to be an old flame, snuffed out, huh?"

"With or without your memories, you're as much of a douchbag as ever." She took the moment to size him up. "...both of you have changed much though..."

Wayne tapped his fingers on the table, contemplating on something. "That's nice to know, but I don't have time for newbies. So why don't you--"

She slammed her hand down on the table and interrupted: "If you had remembered you would know that I don't stand for being mocked by you." She grinned. "Since BOTH of you are in this world, I don't intend to be left behind any longer, and I'm certainly not going remain ignorant and new to this world."

They stared each other down, until Wayne's partner finally tried to diffuse the atmosphere: "There's really no need to fight...Wayne, it's not going to hurt to work on getting to know people again."

Breaking away from the staring contest, Wayne sighed. "I don't know Joan. I already disappointed Razor and everyone else, going off last year without much of a word; considering the reaction I got when I came back, it's already a miracle that they allowed me to stay. What reason can I give this woman here to care? Speaking of which, what ARE you? My rival?" He shot a glare at Venus, who kick a chair out from under the table to sit on.

"Just the girl who lounged around your dorm a lot because her boyfriend was your roommate, and for the record, you were like that brother I wished I never had, and I have two younger brothers already." She scowled. "You were and still are the most infuriating person I ever had the misfortune to know. But here I am, stuck in a brand new world, and the only people I know is a...an ex-boyfriend that I miss, and now you."

"Humph. Sounds like a personal problem to me."

"Oh, I'd say it's pretty personal; I'm not happy to see you but it's certainly relieving to know you're not dead either." Although now I feel stupid for not considering that if Razor's here, of course the MIA roommate would also be here and thriving.

He frowned. "Not dead, huh..."

Both fell into a silence, contemplating. Joan frowned at her tamer, and Venus briefly considered if perhaps this world was just some sort of pick-and-choose afterlife, where certain people go on into the world...but on the other hand, that wouldn't make sense if you still had the capability of visiting the Real World.

Roumon's stomach grumbled. "Venus, I want a pastry..."

Her train of thought came to a halt and she had blank reaction. "What?"

"I'm hungry. I want a pastry. I like sweet things." Roumon pointed back towards the desserts case that served sweets that went along with the drinks one would buy.

"Umm...Roumon, I think you missed the memo, but I have no money in this world..."

Wayne groaned. "Manager!" He called, and Isaac just replied over the counter: "Another coffee?"

"And drinks and food for the girl and her digimon's choosing."

"Wait, no--" Venus protested, but Wayne gave a terse reply:

"Don't argue. I'm doing this for your digimon."

Roumon leapt off her shoulder and onto the table, cheering: "Yay! I want a strawberry pastry!"

For whatever reason, Venus felt defeated this round, and went to Isaac to make the order. Roumon stayed at the table and blinked up at Wayne.

"What? Why are you staring at me?"

"Sometimes, a tiny change can go a long way...you don't have to keep being difficult, either..."

"Tch, don't make me regret buying you food."

"Only you can choose if you regret it or not..."

"Actions are the only remedy to regret, if any. I will establish myself through actions, and that's none of your concern."

Roumon just gave him a smiling expression and replied: "I believe you'll find life to be less tense, soon. Good luck."

Wayne just sighed. "Baby Digimon..."

"I'm an in-training Digimon!"

"Still a baby Digimon to me."

He ignored him and reached forward to receive the coffee that Venus brought over with the rest of the order. She sat down and asked: "No 'thank you'?"

The response was just an eye-roll.

"Strawberry!" Roumon gladly nibbled away on his pastry.

After a little while, when Venus was done with her coffee and Roumon was feeling snoozy after eating, she got up to take care of the plate and cup, and said: "Sometimes, the smell of coffee makes me sad."

"Not my problem." Wayne was half staring off to space and didn't care what she had to say.

"...Razor's dorm room always smelled like coffee because of you."

There was no answer. But after she threw everything away and proceeded to leave, Wayne called after her: "You should stop thinking about the past, you know! It's not coming back and it never will!"

The rest of the day proceeded without much disturbance. Venus took some time to figure out how to re-arrange a few things in her room, adjusted some of the floor panels for the "second floor," and washed her clothes again since it was her only set of clothes right now.

Roumon slept through most everything; she supposed it was part of being a young digimon, just like young kids. During that time she, figured out some of the functions of her digivice. While it was shaped like a scroll, it was more like a roll-up tablet. It also came with a stylus that could change to a suitable writing utensil of your choice. Being unused to the default brush, she set it to be a fountain pen, and decided the digivice was perfect to use to take notes with.

She started out with documenting how she found her way into the Digital World, and jotted down notes about the people she's met so far.

The next morning, Roumon, who had slept too much the previous day, woke Venus up at 6 am in the morning for food.

"Ugh...you're just like the V-pet..." She groaned and got out of bed. You did know what you were signing up though in THIS respect when you said 'yes' to your V-Pet...

She showered, got dressed, and applied the mascara that Erik had given to her the day prior. "Come on, Roumon, let's see if the cafeteria is open."

And for such an early morning, it seems there were quite a few early-birds. She didn't see any of the administrators about though, and most of the morning crew appear to be people she hasn't met yet. It's too early in the morning though...not now...meet people later... She yawned and had a mainly silent breakfast with Roumon.

Compared to the previous day, the morning started out tame. Venus took a nap back in the room but ended up waking up and wanting to take a walk instead. Out of habit, she pulled out her phone before leaving the room to check the time...

And noticed that her phone was dead.

"...Damn it. I forgot to get a charger..."

"Maybe the front desk will have one?"

"I do hope so. Let's go down and see what we can find."

She was surprised to see that Bit and Byte were behind the lobby counter this time. She had thought they were just digimon that lived around the area. Or perhaps they worked here for a place to stay?

"Hello! Do you need something?" Byte greeted her. Bit recognized her immediately and piped up: "Hey, it's the blonde lady from yesterday!"

"Mmm hmm...and you're the little rascal that took a cold bath yesterday. What are you two doing behind the counter?"

"Miss Kaguya went missing." Byte explained. "She usually has most of the lobby shifts, and we help out. But she hasn't been seen for the past few days..."

"So mom's had us fill in until they find out what happened to her." Bit frowned. Clearly he was upset that they had to do this chore.

"But I'm sure she'll be fine. Dad's running an investigation! So we'll make sure everything's taken care of here!"

"Only because we're promised some very good ice cream for working hard." Bit stuck his tongue out at his sister, and then leaned on the counter, sighing: "And he's not really our dad. We technically don't have a dad. We're digimon..."

"It's still nice to say we do though...Anyway, did you need something?" Byte asked Venus again.

"Oh, right..." She pulled out her phone. "I was told that this place could provide me with a charger?"

"Sure!" Byte dodged under the counter and pulled out a box of different charger cords. "Let's see which one is for your phone..." She examined the charging port and pulled out a cord for her. Venus tested the port and asked: "I know digimon don't actually have parents…so what makes some digimon decide to adopt a human-like family structure?”

The siblings looked at each other and then shrugged. Roumon was the one that answered though: "I think that's different for every digimon...some digimon came into being under human influence, and had pre-installed knowledge of such terms."

She nodded as she rolled up the cord and charger. "Thank you...if I may ask, who is your mom?"

Bit seemed to be happy she asked. "The one and only Arysesyra!"

Arysesyra...as in...Esyra. Which means...

"...and the one you consider to be your father is...?"

Byte's eyes brightened. "Razor!" Her brother just kind of settled with the answer and laughed sheepishly at her reaction. Apparently, out of the two, one was more pleased with the idea than the other.

Venus felt her blood run cold though. "I-I see...Well, thank you for the charger cord. You two work hard." And she walked back towards the stairs silently.

"Venus?" Roumon asked, but she just remained quiet and quickened her pace down the hall. When she got back to their complex, she simply tossed all of her effects onto a recliner, set Roumon in his little bed, and fell face-down into her own side of the bed.

"I have been completely, utterly, defeated." Venus groaned, heartbroken. Maybe this is what they mean by moving on after someone has been out of your life for way too long.

"There, there." Roumon tried to pat her arm with his claw. But Venus spent the next half an hour sobbing away.

Roumon never knew how compulsive his tamer could be until now.

For the rest of the day, Venus obsessively worked over reprogramming her complex. It seemed that the administration were kind enough to leave tutorials and instructions on how to work this kind of stuff, and Roumon just sighed as he watched his tamer work back and forth, changing this and editing that.

"Logistics, logistics..." She muttered to herself. She couldn't program anything spectacular but she seemed to have found out how to edit and create basic furniture.

"I suppose this is the closest you can get to having a shopping catalogue, isn't it?" Roumon asked as she worked on programming the design of the wall-lamps.

"Buying things is still much simpler...and I wouldn't have to be the one to install it."

"That's nice and all, but..." Roumon pointed angrily at the clock. "You've been at this for over five hours! It's past three pm! Don't you think you should get out and do something else?"

"It's not like there's much else I CAN do...I don't even have money to buy myself a cup of coffee!" I can't believe I'm BROKE.

"Then Venus should look for a job!"

"You mean I need to work?!"

"How else does a person make money?"

"You grow up rich." Was the deadpan reply. Roumon sighed. But Venus was also starting to lose interest in programming her complex. She took a deep breath and stretched. "But it's not like I can barter my way out of this one and live off of favors...so I guess you're right. Let's first see what's around here..."

They first took the moment to visit the Cafe again.

"Part time job?" Isaac looked up from cleaning one of the coffee pots. "Well, Esyra said I can take care of the hiring, so if you're looking for training and working here, sure! Tell me if you're interested. Here's a new-hire form. Good luck!"

She took the form and then visited the front desk again. This time, Matthew was temporarily managing the desk. "Oh, hey! It's Venus! Part time job? Uh...unfortunately the front desk job is for administrative people only; it's kind of not fair to let our contestants have access to a lot of resources here. But we do have a lot of facilities around that you can check out! Personally I'd suggest the bar or the ramen shop. You could say it's one of the first places that was opened which also provided wages, hah-hah. The infirmary takes help, too! But you need a certain amount of medical knowledge to help there."

Taking that advice, she made a trip to where she supposed the infirmary was.

Upon arriving, she saw many tamers and their digimon partners getting first aid there. It seemed some of them received a few bruises and scratches from the events going on. Briefly she remembered sparring with Hukaro. She doesn't know exactly how the other admins were like with sparring but certainly that one was sure to be the cause of some bruising.

She lingered a bit, considering if this was something she could do. She was well-versed in biology but...not quite medicine...and she knew nothing about digimon. Maybe this wasn't the place for her. She was quite lost in thought though and didn't notice a little pink flower-like digimon try to talk to her, and only snapped out of her thoughts when a young bespectacled woman with chestnut hair spoke to her:

"Hi. can I help you with something?"

Shaking her head, Venus just replied: "Not really. I was just passing by and wondered what this place was."

“Well, this is the infirmary of Tamer’s Rest. I help out here with injured patients and make sure they get healed and well-rested. I’m Stella.”

Soft demeanor and warm smiles. She truly is befitting of this place. No, I would not be a fitting worker here, either. Venus thought as she glanced down at Stella's out-stretched hand. "Venus Lynx." She shook it.

Roumon seemed a little agitated for not being introduced. "And I'm Roumon! Nice to meet you!"

“You’re just an In-Training Digimon, Roumon.” the flower digimon pointed out.

"That's because I was just recently hatched."

Being still preoccupied in just herself, Venus was still musing over what she was going to do. I'm kind of stuck here for the time being, I can't really have Razor back, and I've completely lost my bearings. I'm not sure if there's anything here I can work for...ugh...lingering here isn't going to solve my problems, either. I should probably leave... Not being one of good entrances or exits, she just turned to try and leave, but was stopped at the doorway by Stella calling out to her:

“Venus. If you ever need to speak out your mind, you can always turn to me. I’m a good listener and I might help you with small advices.”

Oh, but...we're completely of two worlds. I don't think you'd understand... “Thanks for the offer, but I don’t want help.”

She didn't even wait for a reply and kept walking. Roumon whined. "Venus, that wasn't very nice. I've told you before...even with all the differences in the world, there are things everyone can be the same about. Besides, some things in the past don't matter anymore. The future matters more."

The future is feeling more and more blurry by the minute here.

It's getting better and better. And thanks for the cameo. :D
I hope your cold will get better. I've got an allergy myself and it's not a funny thing.
